Wellness
Ayurveda, properly done
Doctor-led programmes rather than spa menus, and enough unscheduled time that the rest of it actually lands.
Sri Lanka has a genuine Ayurvedic tradition and a large industry built on top of it, and the two are not the same thing. The places we use have a resident physician, consult before they prescribe, and will change your programme mid-course if your body does something unexpected. We also build in more empty days than most itineraries dare to, because the single most common piece of feedback we get is that the trip was wonderful and slightly too full.

What people ask us
A genuine panchakarma course runs fourteen to twenty-one nights. Anything under seven is a spa holiday with Ayurvedic vocabulary — enjoyable, but it will not do what the literature claims. We are happy to arrange either, provided everyone is clear which one it is.
A resident doctor, a consultation before any treatment is prescribed, and a programme that changes based on that consultation. If the treatment list is identical for every guest and bookable online in advance, it is a spa menu.
Yes, and it usually should be. The pattern that works is country first, retreat second — the Cultural Triangle and tea country while you have the energy for it, then a stationary week on the coast at the end.
During a full course, yes — diet is part of the prescription, and alcohol is generally out. It is worth knowing that before you book a fortnight of it alongside a wine-tasting itinerary.
